Top 10 Sequels that Greatly Outshined their Predecessors
While it’s true that the videogame industry has come down with a pretty ferocious case of sequelitis, there are a few games that have come out over the years that show that just because a title is a sequel, that doesn’t mean that it can revolutionize gaming in some pretty incredible ways. Here’s a list of some sequels that outshined their predecessors by a huge degree:

 

Fight Night Round 3
While EA’s Fight Night franchise was a solid boxing series as it was, but with the revolutionary third entry, EA created some amazing visuals and fantastic analog stick based pugilism.
Guitar Hero II
While its predecessor may have popularized the recent rhythm game trend, its sequel was instrumental (no pun intended) in refining the series’ mechanics to a pretty fantastic degree.
Mortal Kombat II
The first game can be credited with pushing the envelope in terms of violence and gore in a video game, but the sequel worked to refine the gameplay and make it one of the standouts of the MK series.
