Top 10 Games That Didn’t Live Up to the Hype
When the gears are moving and the hype-machine is in full force, there are some games out there that look like they will be unstoppable. Be it through word of mouth, press coverage, or plain old hyperbolic marketing, some games just get hyped up to an unattainable level, a move even more disappointing when the games can’t hit the high mark, be they not quite great enough or sometimes just plain bad. Here’s a list of some games that didn’t live up to the hype:

 

Dirge Of Cerberus - Final Fantasy VII
An action game that put you in control of one of the most popular characters from one of the most popular video games in history sounds like a recipe for success, but poor controls and lame combat had players singing their own dirge to Vincent’s disappointing spin-off.

Enter The Matrix
A game that was made with an unprecedented amount of synergy between video games and movies, Enter the Matrix was supposed to be as close as you could get to the hit video game franchise. Unfortunately, development shortened by film launch deadlines (the game had to launch at the same time as the second film) meant that a variety of gameplay quirks and technical issues went unfixed.

Red Steel
A launch title for the Nintendo Wii, Red Steel was supposed to revolutionize the FPS genre with great motion controls. It didn’t.
