While video games have been a great way to unwind and have fun for several decades now, the industry has been a hotbed of controversy for almost as long as it’s been around. Here’s a look at some of the most controversial titles in the history of the video game industry:

 

Resident Evil 5
While the game is not even out yet as of this posting, there is still a lot of discussion about perceived racism within the game’s setting throughout the gaming press, with heated arguments being made on both sides.
Mass Effect
While the whole Fox News/”Sex”box scandal was more about making a mountain out of a molehill than an actual discussion on the game’s mature subject matter, it did add a new element to the “sex in video games” debate.
Soldier of Fortune
A fairly average shooter, Soldier of Fortune made some waves due to a rudimentary limb dismemberment system.
