Top 10 Console Strategy Games
To put it bluntly, consoles have not been very kind to the strategy genre. In fact, more than a healthy chunk of them have been rushed ports of PC titles with frustrating control schemes, unimpressive graphics, and a distinct lack of the charm that has catapulted the genre to such success on the PC. However, there are a few gems that have actually utilized the strengths of consoles to be fun and exciting experiences, so without further ado, here are ten of my favorites:

 

The Lord of the Rings, The Battle for Middle-earth II
A solid game on the PC, The Battle for Middle Earth 2 landed on the Xbox 360 with a new control scheme that felt comfortable, while the gameplay had the same great, large-scale scope and awesome battles as its PC brother.
Pikmin
Nintendo’s charming strategy title is still one of the best games on the GameCube, offering quirky characters and addictive gameplay.
Halo Wars
A daring departure from the original first-person shooter trilogy, Ensemble did a fantastic job of not only adding the intensity and action of the Halo universe, but also making it very fun and easy to play, thanks to controls created from the ground up for consoles.
