With a new Nintendo console slated for announcement, this year’s E3 promises to be an impressive one. Sony has big plans of its own with the NGP, a
Since early yesterday, Namco Bandai's community manager has been handing out clues regarding an upcoming game announcement. These clues were quickly deciphered by the fan community and the result is (somewhat fuzzy) proof that Tales of Graces F may be coming stateside. Hit the jump for the evidence.
While gamers have known for a long time that for every Mario Galaxy or GTA: Chinatown Wars there are at least three dozen Tamagotchi Connection Corner Shops, the lesson seems to be rubbing off on developers and publishers as well. Suddenly Namco Bandai's VP of sales, marketing and publishing Olivier Comte has come out to state he believes that the Wii and DS markets are "collapsing" buried under the weight of shovelware and general poor quality. Prognostications and sexy pirates after the break.
Today, Namco Bandai Games revealed that they are going to make a greater push into the arena of digital distribution by expanding its presence on Xbox LIVE Games on Demand and the PlayStation Network's PlayStation Portable titles and PS One Classics. "Expanding our digital distribution presence across all major platforms is an essential part of our worldwide corporate strategy," said Robert Stevenson, Vice President of Online Development at Namco Bandai Games America Inc. "Through this initiative, our consumers will have access to our latest releases, bestsellers and hard to find classics with the press of a button." Titles currently available include Ridge Racer 6 on Xbox 360 for 1,600 Microsoft Points, Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny and Tekken 6 on PSP for $39.99, Ridge Racer for PSP for $14.99, and Me & My Katamari for $19.99. Coming in the first quarter of 2010 to Xbox 360 will be Beautiful Katamari, whose price has not yet been listed.
Released in 1980, Clash of the Titans is one of my favorite films of all-time. Combining the amazing effects of Ray Harryhausen and some fine storytelling, it stands as one of the best fantasy films ever made. So, imagine my horror when a remake is announced. Oh yeah, and there's a tie-in game too. Fortunately, the game does have some potential - it's being developed by Game Republic, best known for the PS3-exclusives Folklore and Genji: Days of the Blade (yes, the Giant Enemy Crab game). The game promises "vast landscapes of swamps, mountains and the underworld", with two modes of play, allowing players to follow the film's plot or deviate and battle some original bosses created for the game. Multiplayer is also promised. Namco Bandai will be publishing the title, which is set for release in Spring of 2010 for the Xbox 360 and PS3.
First revealed in this month's Game Informer, Namco Bandai has officially unveiled Enslaved for the Xbox 360 and PS3. Developed by Ninja Theory, best-known for the PS3-exclusive Heavenly Sword, Enslaved is an action-adventure set in a post-apocalyptic world, where humans are all but extinct and robots from previous wars control the planet. Players take the role of two characters: Monkey, a brutish loner, and Trip, a brainy female, who are linked together via a slave headband, where if one dies, both die. The duo must work together to traverse intimidating terrain and battle countless enemies.
Since Nintendo surprised everyone at this year's Game Developers Conference with the Virtual Console Arcade, Nintendo has gone on to release... six titles. Ultimately, it seems to have simply made the queue for waiting on something good to come out even bigger. However, releases have come a bit more frequently in Japan, where they presently have 34 games to purchase, many of them from Namco Bandai (whose offerings make up fully one-half of the Western VC Arcade lineup, in case you were wondering). What's more, according to Andriasang, they still have five games left from the initially-announced wave of titles. The publisher has managed to get out approximately one a week in Japan, which has led to 25 Namco Bandai arcade games being available in total. Evidently, they figure that's close enough to allow them to announce the next batch of 20 VC Arcade titles they plan to introduce.
"PlayStation Portable? Now them's fightin' words!" At least, they are if you're Namco Bandai, who has revealed today that they will be bringing not one, but two of their prized fighting game franchises to Sony's portable plaything. IGN revealed that Tekken 6 will be hitting the road alongside its console big brothers this Fall, bringing with it extra stages, items, content, and an ad-hoc multiplayer which will make use of "original" and "fan-favorite" characters. Plus, "he PSP version will also have "Ghost" Infrastructure mode so that a player can upload his or her character data as well as download others' to see how everyone's skills stack up."
