God of War: Ghost of Sparta will explore Kratos's "dark past"

Sony had an extra-special announcement today for all the extra-special God of War fans out there, especially the ones who still haven't had their fill of chimera evisceration and deicide. The fact that God of War 3 is over and done with doesn't mean Kratos gets to kick back and put his feet up, as God of War: Ghost of Sparta, the second PSP exclusive GoW game, was announced today. No rest for the wicked, as they say. Hit the jump for the details.

Media: Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny Release Date and Kratos Footage

Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny is only a month and some change away from its PlayStation Portable release in the U.S., as Siliconera has revealed that the game will hit shelves on September 1st in North America. Until then, entertain yourself with some of these match-ups from a San Diego Comic-Con montage video, which features God of War's Kratos doing what he does best at the 1:33 mark: Video Games | Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny | SDCC 09: Kratos Gameplay (Cam)XBox 360 | Playstation 3 | Nintendo Wii "Spartans do not know the meaning of surrender," he says. That seems to be working out pretty well for him.

Rumor: War Has Changed; Will Kratos' Movie Ending Differ from Game's?

Let's face it, when it comes to video game-based movies, it has become an accepted fact of life that stuff is going to be changed. Often times radically, at that. So naturally, one should probably expect no different from the currently-in-development God of War movie, right? Well, yes, and no. Cinema Blend reports that one entertainment reporter managed to get an opportunity to look over the script, and said that it was "almost slavishly" true to the game. That is, until you reach the end. Then things get interesting. For the sake of spoilers, game and movie alike, the rest goes after the cut.

God of Par: Play as Kratos in Hot Shots Golf

If there ever was an argument for the benefits of downloadable content, this would be it. The Playstation Blog announced today that Kratos from God of War fame, is being added to the roster of Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds. The best part about it? It's happening today and it will only lighten your wallet by a mere $2! With original voice work from T.C. Carson and special attention paid to the animations, it really is a testament to how DLC can further a gaming experience. Yes, all the rumors are true: Kratos, the one and only, has made his way to Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds… and he's looking to claim his rightful seat as the God of Golf! In all honesty, integrating Kratos into Hot Shots Golf was by far one of the best experiences, as we got to work closely with the God of War team and the casts of characters (voice over, animators, etc) that created Kratos in his original form. If I had to pick one of the most fun parts, it would have to be our VO sessions and watching (listening?) T.C. Carson jump into the Kratos role in a completely new environment… trust me, there were plenty of eye-watering-side-splitting laughs that day… -- Playstation Blog I have a feeling that a fair number of people that aren't even interested in golf are going to grab a copy of this just to play a round with our loin clothed friend.

Rumor: Kratos to Appear in Soulcalibur IV on PS3

Admit it, you really don't know whether to believe this one or not. With Link, Spawn, and Heihachi in Soulcalibur II, and Anglo Fia, Yoda, Darth Vader, and his apprentice appearing in Soulcalibur IV (and for the heck of it, a Spartain in Dead or Alive IV and Sonic and Snake in Super Smash Bros. Brawl), this rumor seems anything but unlikely. As it stands, EGM has reported via its usual rumor mill that Kratos, the legendary God of War himself from said series of PlayStation games, will be the next character revealed for the PlayStation 3 version of the title. Maybe his appearance will even drop some clues as to the upcoming God of War III. On the upside, at least he kind of fits in, compared to the others. But as it stands, Namco doesn't comment on rumors, yadda-yadda-yadda, so just keep your eyes peeled while wondering, if true, who (if anyone) will balance things out in the Xbox 360 version.

Kratos vs. Kratos? Online Coming To God of War III?

God of War's Kratos has always been fighting a brutal intrapersonal battle, but soon, he may be coming face-to-ghostly-white-face with his own physical form. Sony's sunny Santa Monica studio is in need of an online gameplay programmer to "join the team behind the critically acclaimed AAA titles 'God of War' and 'God of War II.'" Bearing in mind that God of War III is an epic, even legendary undertaking, it's unlikely that the GoW team has been bifurcated in such a way as to grind out two projects. Thus, future gameplay programmers, when applying for this job, you have my permission to work up a nice frothy nervous sweat in anticipation of working on a new God of War. "But wait, you exclaim, "what kind of multiplayer will GoW III include?" No idea. GoW III exists, but beyond that, no one knows what kind of crazy, goat-slaughtering experiments are going on behind SCEA Santa Monica's doors. Hopefully, we'll know more soon. Kombo pinky-swears to keep you updated.
