If you don't love giant robots battling each other then I think it's safe to say that you don't have a soul. For those of us with souls, Third Wave Games and Ubisoft are quenching our thirst for mechanoids this Wednesday with War World on XBLA. The price is 800 Microsoft points ($10 in earth dollars) which sounds like a pretty good price for what the game offers.
Choose from 16 different mechanoids, each has its own special abilities and advantages, including Extreme Speed, High Damage Lasers, Missiles and more. The single player Arcade mode boasts a 100 level campaign that can be played with five levels of difficulty. Rather take on the opponents with friends? "War World" multiplayer offers four unique game-modes: Capture the Flag, Bomb Assault, Death Match and Team Death Match. -- Gamerscore Blog
I'm definitely going to check out the demo for this one and make a decision from there. I haven't heard anything about this release but if it has a robot in it, it'll probably find some way to satisfy my darkest desire. I mean, satisfy my need to play a game with robots. Yeah, let's go with that.
Earlier this afternoon, mini-blogging and rumor-fanning site Twitter blew a freaking gasket over the supposed shutting down of Project Gotham Racing and James Bond 007: Blood Stone creators Bizarre Creations. The Liverpool studio was said to have been axed by Activision mere hours ago, with the news originating from a statement on Giant Bomb that the studio will be subject to a "90-day consultation period, statutory redundancy."
How this translates to the studio being shut down, necessarily, is beyond me.
I'm pretty sure it's been said before, and if so, Mortal Kombat co-creator and series Producer Ed Boon has then reiterated on his Twitter what we can expect from the next series installment, and no, superheroes won't have anything to do with it.
Replying to another user, he tweets "People want an M-rated MK....dammit we will give them an M-rated MK." He also expresses in another that they are "doin some kool fatalities. I hope we aren't taking these too far. :("
If one were to wonder how Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is doing, then one might turn to Infinity Ward's Robert "fourzerotwo" Bowling, who has posted a list of stats which are rather telling about the people who play the popular wartime first-person shooter.
However, these stats only represent the Xbox Live contingent of COD4 players, those who have connected at least once. But the numbers are considerable, nonetheless, and a few PS3 numbers lay after the cut as well.
