PSN Thursday – 8.6.09: Batman, Nazi Zombies, and LittleBigInFamous

Another Thursday, another PlayStation Network update. Those looking to give Batman: Arkham Asylum a shot before it comes out later this month are in luck. There is a 1GB demo now available. Aside from that, Call of Duty: World at War has a new map pack. It consists of four new multiplayer maps, including Der Riese, a new Nazi Zombie level. The endless LittleBigPlanet DLC continues to be…umm…never ending. This time you can pay $1.99 to dress your Sackboy up like a hipster bike messenger with super powers of electricity. Yes, I'm referring to Cole from InFamous. Another notable release is Square Enix's tower defense game, Crystal Defenders. For $9.99 you can download the full game or try out the demo for free. Check out the whole list after the break.

Two Worlds 2 Interview Part 1: Redemption, Challenges, Horses and More

Greetings, dear readers. Recently, we at Kombo had the chance to sit down with a developer of one the most exciting games coming out this fall, and, hopefully, a candidate for the (nonexistent) "most improved sequel" award: Two Worlds 2. Jake DiGennaro, community director at Topware Interactive, chatted with us about everything from the mistakes that were were during development of the first game to motion control and 3D technology - with plenty of new info about Two Worlds 2 thrown in, as well. If you've been keeping up with Kombo for the last week or so, you've probably been seeing some excerpts from this interview popping up in our daily news coverage. As promised, here's part one of the two part interview in its entirety. Enjoy, and come back tomorrow for part two! Now hit that jump to start reading!

Nintendo Download - 10/26/09: Nintendo Offers Downloadable Halloween Fun from Axe to Zombies

Sorry, Belmont fans-- no Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth on WiiWare today. Fortunately, that doesn't mean this week's Nintendo Download is without merit; there are actually some other good titles on hand to help you ignore Trick or Treaters this year. Just in time for Halloween, Gameloft has Ghost Mansion Party ready for 1,000 Wii Points, but there's a good chance players might feel those points are better spent on Tales of Monkey Island: Chapter 3. On DSiWare, prospects are a little less joyful, unless you love Sudoku. If that's the case, EA has you covered for 200 DSi Points. Nintendo also has the 500-point PictureBook Games: The Royal Bluff, a game of "strategy and deceit." And then we have the Virtual Console, with two blasts from the past. First up is the arcade version of Golden Axe for 900 Wii Points, but if you've gotten your fill of that one from other releases, then you may be pleased to know that Zombies Ate My Neighbors from LucasArts is available for 100 less, and is likely the one I'll be getting, as I missed out on it the first time around. Check the press release after the cut for full details on all titles.

GDC 08: Microsoft Keynote Summary

Microsoft kicked off Game Developers Conference 2008 with its anticipated A Future Wide Open: Unleashing the Creative Community keynote this morning in San Francisco, California. Below, you'll find our transcript of the keynote. Note: During the first 15 minutes of the keynote, we had battery difficulties and were unable to transcribe things. We'll try to update this post when we have a spare moment with details on those first 15 minutes. As of 2007, gaming is bigger than the music industry on a global basis. 2007 game sales – and hours spent playing games online – was a blowout year. More Xbox 360s are on the way. Microsoft says demand was high for 360 because of excellent 2007 games, such as BioShock, Halo 3, Madden NFL 08, Call of Duty 4, Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect and Guitar Hero III. Each of these games sold over one million units during the 2007 holiday season – making it a record holiday season for the console and the industry as a whole. 360 games are rated higher by critics than games on other platforms. The 7 highest rated games of this generation are on Xbox 360 (Orange Box, BioShock, etc.). Xbox 360 community has unlocked over one billion achievements. Achievement unlocked!
