Skyrim Hearthfire development unrelated to Dawnguard’s PS3 delay

Many were shocked when Bethesda announced The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim's latest DLC, Hearthfire. Mostly because owners of the game on PS3 still haven't yet received the Dawnguard expansion.

Dawnguard which released exclusively on Xbox 360 all the way back in June, and then on PC earlier this month, has still yet to make its way to PlayStation 3. So you can imagine how upset PS3 owners were when Bethesda revealed Hearthfire would be available on Xbox 360 on September 4th. Will the Xbox 360 version of Skyrim receive its second add-on before the PS3 even receives its first?

It's definitely possible, but Bethesda wants people to know the development of one expansion has no effect on the other. Responding to fans' accusations that the release of Hearthfire is causing even more of a delay with Dawnguards's PS3 release, Bethesda responded: "No, they are separate things."

"We are working on multiple projects, even beyond those two things," he added. "The entire team doesn't work on one thing at a time."

Well, if that's the case, I think it's time to find a new team for the PS3 version. Hines could offer no reason for the delay, nor give a timetable for its release. Earlier this month, Bethesda told fans they were "not yet satisfied with Dawnguard's performance on the PS3", but said nothing beyond that. Skyrim had a multitude of problems on the PS3 when it first launched so it could be related to that.
