Over 2 million Skyrim mods downloaded since Creation Kit release

It has only been a week since the release of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Creation Kit and Steam Workshop, and already gamers are enjoying the modding perks – to the tune of 2 million mods downloaded.

Bethesda announced today that the Skyrim Creation Kit, a free tool that allows PC players to create their own content mods for the game, has been "enthusiastically received" by PC gamers.  According to a press release today, more than 2,500 mods have been published by the Skyrim community, all of which are available for free on the Skyrim Workshop on Steam.

The Steam Workshop provides an easy way for Skyrim PC players to upload, download, and install custom content, but be warned – once uploaded to the Steam Workshop, the mod belongs to Bethesda and they may use it how they see fit.

To help modders get started, Bethesda has provided a series of Skyrim Creation Kit tutorial videos giving users a quick rundown of the new features available.  Check out the Bethesda Game Studios YouTube for the entire tutorial series.
