Portal 2 Wins Most Anticipated Game

A the recent 2010 Video Game Awards, Portal 2 was awarded the title of Most Anticipated Game. Taking place hundreds of years after the first Portal, the players returns as Chell. Chell has been safely locked away in stasis while the Aperture Science facility and GLaDOS have collapsed intp ruin under the pressure of the ages. GLaDOS is not pleased to see Chell, and sets to rebuilding while providing a series of puzzle-based tests in chambers that requires the player to use the portal gun (Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device) to find their way through the challenges.

Portal 2 will include tractor beams, laser redirection, and special paint-like gels that endow objects with special properties like increased momentum. Portal 2 also includes a two-player cooperative mode, where each player is a robot that has become self-aware due to GLaDOS’ influence. The players must cooperate in order to beat each level.

Valve has stated that both the single player and the cooperative campaigns are about each twice as long as the original campaign in Portal making each campaign is about six hours long. Portal 2 is scheduled to be released on April 18, 2011 after being postponed shortly from its original winter 2010 release.
