Issue one of the Max Payne 3 comic is free to read

Last month we found out that Rockstar Games was going to collaborate with Marvel Comics to release a special three-part Max Payne mini-series. Back then, all we knew was that the comics would be available both digitally and in print, with the latter getting a limited edition run.

We now have the skinny on Max Payne 3: After the Fall. The first thing you'll want to know is that you can currently check out the first issue on Rockstar's website. The digital comic was made available over the weekend just in time for Free Comic Book Day.

Regarding the physical copies, you'll have to enter a contest through the Rockstar Games Social Club to try and win a copy. Yeah, those things are going to be pretty rare. I never win anything, so I'm not even going to try. Also, I don't think I'm a member of the Social Club, and I'm too lazy to check/sign up.

Oh, and for all of you Max Payne aficionados, you'll be stoked to know that After the Fall is written by Dan Houser and Sam Lake. That's right, Sam Lake, as in the guy who wrote the first two games in the series (which were awesome!).

I downloaded the digital comic for myself, and after reading through those 14 pages, I have to say I'm pretty depressed. I'm not depressed because the comic is bad or anything like that, because it's not. No, I'm depressed because Sam Lake knows how to make Max a brooding, pitiful character. Also, the art is good and Max's mom was hot. Good stuff! Check it out!
