New Battlefield 3 Details Emerge

Even though Battlefield 3’s October 25 release date is just over the horizon, we continue to still see new details emerge. Today three new reports have been released to the public; all three can be seen in detail below:

— According to a poster from a Japanese retail store, the Xbox 360 version of Battlefield 3 will ship with two discs. It is still uncertain whether one disc will be primarily filled with extras or if it will ship like Halo: ODST: one disc with the singleplayer, one disc with the multiplayer component.

— DICE revealed new information today on their blog about vehicles and their “health.” The blog post read, “If you back up and take cover, you give yourself a chance to let the vehicle armor recover, just like your soldier heals up when going into cover. This is a new feature in Battlefield 3 where lightly damaged vehicles recover their armor after a set amount of time (if kept away from enemy fire). Instead of promoting a gung-ho attitude at all times, this means that the driver who keeps his cool and adapts to any given situation will also be able to keep his vehicle in working order for longer. It is basically our way of giving smart non-Engineers a fighting chance to keep his vehicle in the battle.”

— According to DICE’s Alan Kertz, players may be working for a while to unlock every item in a single class. Kertz Tweeted to the public saying that, “If you unlock every weapon, every gadget, and every unlock for every weapon… something like 100 hours.” The 100 hour mark is due to the fact that unlocks in Battlefield 3 will be given on a per weapon basis while each attachment must be unlocked for each weapon separately. Can you say challenge dealt?
