Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain - PS2 - Preview
E3 2003 - First Look
Your teammates need you to help clear the path. Though it isn’t exactly what you signed up to do, you must sit on that building roof and wait. You are the designated sniper, a killing machine ready to take down the enemy with a bullet.
Syphonfilter: The Omega Factor is the fourth in the series. Sony Entertainment showed it off at the E3 trade show in Los Angeles, May 14-16.
Not only have the graphical elements received a boost, but the game also features dynamic environments and four-player multiplayer cooperative play. Other features include more than 100 weapons and 13 multiplayer levels. Each character in the game is their own agent, and players can design and/or customize their characters.
The game is online only and is played in a wide-open sandbox environment. Players will be able to use voice-command headsets to communicate and this is a game that is heavy in tactical-based combat utilizing terrain elements.
The idea behind the game is simple – four players can compete a mission much more effectively than one.
The action is seamless, and the graphics are amazing – with lush, colorful texturing. Character animations are superb and the action rate can best be described as intense. Sounds are true-to-life as well.
Syphonfilter: The Omega Factor has missions, but is also a dandy team shooter game. This is a title that may not break new ground, entirely, in the FPS realm, but will certainly attract the action of those who thoroughly enjoy this style of gaming.
This game is slated for release in early 2004.
