RoadKill - GC - Preview

E3 2003 - Hands On

If there’s one thing I like, it’s vehicular combat titles. I got hooked on them ever since the release of Twisted Metal way back on the PSX. Well, Midway now looks to enter the vehicular fray as well with a post – apocalyptic title called RoadKill.

Roadkill allows the player to select from one of 30 different destructive vehicles like an El Camino style one with a mounted machine gun in the back.  There you will enter into the arena and duke it out, being able to pick up over 20 different weapons. There will also be a single player mission based career kind of mode, but they have also included branching side missions as well to break up some monotony and possibly extend the replay value out. This will also include a reputation system, where the more fame you gain the more followers or defenders you will have helping you out. One really unique feature in the game comes from the radio station that will be playing in the car while you drive … the DJ will not only play music, but also give information about bounties out on your head or give tips for the mission you are on.

The graphics were looking good so far, with little added things like being able to run over people who are in the wrong place at the wrong time and you will even be able to salvage parts from destroyed opponents to add onto your vehicle.

Look for Roadkill to hit the streets Fall of 2003.
