Ranko Tsukigime’s Longest Day (Short Peace) preview: An interpretation of beauty

This mission based running game has multiple long anime style videos to watch before levels. I’m not going to pretend to understand the plot of the story from what I’ve seen and played – but I’ll say it’s an experience for certain. Directed by Suda 51 and then interpreted by the developer Crispy’s, there is a whole lot going on. By the time the player interprets Crispy’s understanding of Suda 51 visions… good luck.

Before the first level, Ranko Tsukigime informs us that she is going to kill her father and then gets chased around the level as she platforms, shoots, and slides her way away from zombie hands trying to get her. Ranko is the only child of the famed “Tsukigime Enterprise” who appears to be your average high school student at night but is actually an assassin at night. If you’re wondering, you can unlock multiple outfits for Ranko  through playing the game.

Ranko Tsukigime's Longest Day is the final part of the five piece series to Katsuhiro Otomo’s four-part anime compilation project, SHORT PEACE. POSSESSIONS, GAMBO, A Farewell to Weapons and COMBUSTIBLE. Each part of the series features Japan in a different era of its history. Ranko Tsukigime's Longest Day is the neo-modern version of Japan.  Check this out on PS3, it’s one hell of an interesting and beautiful experience.
