EverQuest Online Adventures: Frontiers – PS2 – Preview

E3 2003 – First
Look

There’s not many
people who wouldn’t agree that when you talk about MMORPG’s, Everquest is one of
the first to come to mind. Recently, Sony released a version for the PS2
console, and now Sony is going to be releasing the newest one in the series,
scheduled for a Fall 2003 release.

EQ Online:
Advanced Frontiers will not be an expansion pack, it will be a standalone title
which builds on the original PS2 release by adding in new zones to travel to and
some enhanced graphics, since it went back to the drawing board and was re-built
from the ground up. In addition, there are some new skills and skill combining
abilities that will be added in, and even a new class … the Alchemist … who will
provide some useful strategy and support roles by using grenade like or healing
potions in the heat of battle. SOE is also adding in the ability to auction off
items similar to an EBay fashion, so you can list that magic sword or dragon
scale robe into the auction pool, continue adventuring, then the items and money
(online money) are transferred between players automatically. Some of the cool
features from the first one like the e-mail system, buddy list, and clan list
will be back in this version as well.

This new PS2 EQ title is looking great, and for
those of you who are still wrapped heavily into the first one … your
characters will be fully transferable to this new version when it releases.
