Dungeon Siege: Throne of Agony - PSP - Preview
E3 2006 Hands On Preview
The Dungeon Siege series has been quite successful on the PC for several years now by offering a compelling blend of fantasy action and deep RPG elements. Now the series is making it’s first ever appearance to a console, although not quite in the way you would expect. Dungeon Siege: Throne of Agony takes place shortly after the second Dungeon Siege and will be a PSP exclusive, meaning that gamers will be able to take all the action RPG fun on the go. Dungeon Siege: Throne of Agony is an exciting action RPG that stays true to the original PC games while taking advantage of the PSP’s special Wi-Fi capabilities.
Most of the elements that made the original games so compelling are coming back in the new PSP game, albeit streamlined for the handheld platform. You’ll be able to control your single-character and gain the help of NPC’s who’ll assist you on your way. However, whereas the PC versions had a few issues with the AI, the new PSP version promises to keep it tight and helpful.
The game plays out essentially like Untold Legends. You’ll move around with the analog stick, and attack and cast magic in real-time. The game also uses a top-down view, a trait found among many action RPG titles.
Another integral part of Throne of Agony’s gameplay is the multiplayer support. The game will offer 2-player Ad-Hoc (sorry, no Infrastructure), allowing two players and their followers to hack-and-slash their way through the game.
Dungeon Siege: Throne of Agony puts the series
nicely onto the PSP platform, banking on its strengths to provide a compelling
and exciting quest for players to hook up together for some adventuring.
