PreviewsBorderlands 2: More Info on Gunzerker
Easily one of my most anticipated games of 2012 has to be Borderlands 2. The original is still in my 360 almost all of the time, not to mention I bought a copy on Steam as well, that's how obsessed I am.
Imagine my excitement that there is finally more information on the first officially revealed class, The Gunzerker, primarily the various skill trees.
The Gunzerker will be able to build his character out of three separate skill trees: Rampage, Brawn and Gun Lust. Each of these will focus on the Gunzerkers pure firepower, but they will each serve a different purpose in how you'll want to play the game. Just like in the previous game however, you won't be able to max all the skills out. Concentrating on one tree is always a good idea just to attain the last skill, and then use the remaining points for skills left over in the other skill trees.

The Rampage skill tree for instance will make dual-wielding guns far more effective and cause way more damage, such as increasing the amount of gunzerking time with the Yippe Ki Yay skill.
The other tree, which is called Brawn will focus more on making the player a tank character. This will be especially effective in multiplayer, and make the Gunzerker a prime candidate for being on the frontlines. The Come At Me, Bro skill will place aggro on you, greatly reduces damage and gives full health.
Gun Lust is the third skill tree has specific gun abilities. No Kill Like Overkill skill will convert any extra damage from overkilling an enemy to extra health to you. This means players who would rather go down this route would then not usually be in the frontline, but in the back either with a sniper rifle or a rocket launcher, and use those high powered guns to to pick off enemies and simultaneously heal themselves in the process.

Of course you're never tied to just that one skill tree, as you're able to re-spec your character, but there are no specific details on that yet. Lead designer Jon Hemingway told IGN:
"We won't talk specifically about how you do respec-ing, you know in the first game respec-ing was ridiculously cheap to do and you could do it whenever you wanted. We do everything we can to encourage experimentation so the players can try out the different things."
It's clear that Gearbox put a lot more thought into these skill trees as basically each one tweaks the gameplay slightly. You can be sure that we're all excited to get our hands on Borderlands 2 and explore the new lands of Pandora.
