DiRT 2 - 360 - Preview
From the same development house that was responsible for the awesome GRID and the original DiRT, DiRT 2 takes gamers back to the world of off-road racing. The racing mechanics are as solid as ever, feeling quite natural and responding to normal on-track wear and tear, while the game lets you feel what it’s like to be an off-road superstar, interacting with other extreme sports legends and playing through a storyline, and gives you a sense of the lifestyle.
DiRT 2 will allow players to experience what it’s like to be right in the middle of a true professional off-road race, as you’ll get to hear the roar of the crowd and see yelling fanatics in the audience.
You’ll spend a lot of time interacting with and racing against a variety of extreme sports superstars, such as Dave Mirra. Each one will have thousands of lines of dialogue in the game, adding to the overall feel of the authenticity.
You’ll also be able to race in several real-world courses in places such as Japan and London, and all are modeled after real-world tracks. The racing mechanics from the first game are back in the second one and still handle exceptionally well. There are a few new features as well, including the quick rewind feature that the developers used in GRID, effectively allowing you to rewind after a particularly nasty crash and start again from a few seconds earlier.
DiRT 2 is shaping up to be the kind of exciting game that fans of rally car racing should want to get their hands on. Look for it this September.
