Invincible Tiger: The Legend of Han Tao - PS3 - Preview
When is a side-scrolling 2D platformer not a 2D platformer? When the developer manages to work stereoscopic glasses into the mix to make the game appear three-dimensional.
That is what has happened with Invincible Tiger. This is a platform combat game that will be a downloadable game on Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network. But while the game operates in 3D, players who don’t have stereoscopic glasses (not included with the game, obviously), can turn it over to 2D and play through it.
Invincible Tiger uses comic book-style graphics and is a level-based game that uses a scoring system. There is a multiplier for the score, which increases as the player moves through a level delivering damage but avoiding taking any damage. The gameplay style could be termed a real throw-back, but the dev team representative said the goal of the dev team was to create a fun and fast-paced game.
The game will feature co-op local and online play, but as of the event, there were no announcements regarding the number of levels the game will have or the extent of the online portion.
The game will use some of the elements common to these types of games, such as leveling up a character and learning new moves as players progress.
While Invincible Tiger is a throw-back title, the idea to make it a downloadable game should work in its favor.
