Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 - PS2 - Preview
E3 2006 First Look Preview
If you were a fan of the first Budokai Tenkaichi title in the Dragon Ball Z series, get ready for a real treat. Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 2 is on the way and should hit store shelves in October or November and it is comparatively huge in relationship to the first outing.
How big? Twice the size.
Atari recently unveiled a working preview of the game at a pre-E3 event held in San Francisco.
The game will feature 16 battlefields and more than 100 characters with more combos and special attacks. Each of the characters has five special attacks and can transform in-game during combat. Goku can, for example, transform into Super Saiyajin 2-4. Of course, when you get a bigger character they can do more damage, but move slower.
The game itself is story oriented, but that does not mean that you will be immersed in a tale that precludes doing a lot of environmental damage. Yep, that’s right, the environments are destructible. There are nine game modes, including the battle mode though there is no online element for the PS2 version. Whether or not other versions will have it has not yet been announced and only the PS2 version was available at the preview event.
The camera function in the game has been improved, and there is also a password system for customized character swapping.
Fast-paced combat with sparkling animations and colorful environments were the hallmark of the first game and this second title in the series will certainly realize that.
Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 2 is looking to be another solid Dragon Ball Z title.
