There hasn’t been a backwards compatibility update since December, and much less talk of any upcoming ones. However, Microsoft furtively updated their list today, with an additional 33 titles of original Xbox goodness.
What’s on the list? Well let’s see; Panzer Dragoon Orta, Mercenaries, Breakdown, Phantom Dust, Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee, MechAssault 2: Lone Wolf, etc. Lots of great titles in there. We’re still missing a few titles, such as the Otogi games, but the backwards compatible games available now are still excellent.
The full list is available here: here. Unfortunately, right now the update is only available by downloading it to your computer, burning it to a disc, and installing it yourself. You can find the update here. I’d reckon we’ll be seeing the update released through Xbox Live sometime in the near future.
Here’s to hoping Microsoft doesn’t cut their backwards compatibility efforts short anytime soon.
