Xbox 360 and PS3 game releases for March 2014

The launch of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 haven't slowed the number of releases of Xbox 360 and PS3 games. Like last year, March is jam-packed of games for these "last gen" consoles. Prior to the launch of Xbox One and PS4, both Microsoft and Sony assured commitment to these long-standing platforms. For proof, look no further than March 2014's Xbox 360 and PS3 releases.

South Park: The Stick of Truth – Xbox 360, PS3 – March 4, 2014

After what seems like an eternity of developmentSouth Park: The Stick of Truth kicks things off for the Xbox 360 and PS3 in March. In the game you play as the new kid in town, tasked with simply making friends. This involves partaking in a city-wide live-action role-playing game. But of course, this is a game based on South Park we're talking about. You know Trey Parker and Matt Stone are going to throw in a few surprises. Having already played the game, I can assure you that fans of the show will be pleased.

The Walking Dead: Season Two – Episode 2: A House Divided –  PS3 (March 4, 2014), Xbox 360 (some time in March)

After months of waiting, fans will finally be able to experience the next episode in Telltale Games' The Walking Dead: Season Two. Episode 2: A House Divided continues your story as Clementine. For the sake of spoilers, I won't reveal any story details, but for those of you eager for an early look you can check out the most recent trailer here.

Dark Souls II – Xbox 360, PS3 – March 11, 2014

If you like a challenge, you should play Dark Souls. And when you're done, pick up Dark Souls II on March 11. The follow-up is said to be the "hardest action RPG in the world" and we've got some hands-on time with the game to back up the claim. Seriously, there was a demo at E3 that only one person managed to beat. That's how hard it's going to be. While the core Dark Souls experience will still be there, Bandai Namco has change up a few things, most of which you can read about here.

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster – PS3 – March 18, 2014

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster

This HD-remake bundles Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 for PlayStation 3 (originally released on PS2). The games contain improved maps and character models, as well as improved lighting, shadowing, and enhanced pre-rendered movies in high definition. The game now plays at 16:9 widescreen and some scenes have been adjusted accordingly. Trophy support has also been added for both games. So if you enjoyed the originals on PS2, you'll probably like this.

Metal Gear V: Ground Zeroes – Xbox 360, PS3 – March 18, 2014

MGS V: Ground Zeroes

Also coming to Xbox One and PS4Ground Zeroes is the first of a two-part Metal Gear V game. It acts as a prologue to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and takes place one year after the events of MGS: Peace Walker. Players assume the role of the legendary Snake as he infiltrates Camp Omega where Paz and Chico are being help. Both possess key information concerning Snake's private military organization, which Snake is trying to prevent from being exposed.

Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z – Xbox 360, PS3 – March 18, 2014

Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z

For the first time in series history, Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z is entirely cel-shaded. While the art direction is cool and all, these games are all about the hack and slash action. To that end, Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z will play similar to previous titles in the series with players able to run, jump, block and attack enemies using Yaiba's blade (with a giant score multiplier off to the side keeping track of your hit-count). In the game, you play as Yaiba, a cyborg ninja that battles against fierce zombies. Action, bug numbers, and hordes of zombies — can it get any better?

Titanfall – Xbox 360 – March 25, 2014

Titanfall

Titanfall may be the posterboy for Xbox One, but let's not forget that it'll also be available for the millions of gamers who still play Xbox 360. Granted the Xbox 360 version isn't being developed by Respawn Entertainment, but I'd say it's in good hands at Bluepoint Games. After all, this is the studio responsible for God of War Collection, The Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection, and Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. They also helped bring PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale to the Vita, and the HD version of Flower to both the PS4 and Vita. The Xbox 360 version of Titanfall was supposed to launch alongside the Xbox One and PC versions, but was delayed for extra polishing. Although, some suspect it could have more to do with pre-orders for this version.

It's important to note that these are not all of the games coming to Xbox 360 and PS3 for the month, just the main notable ones. With Sony's commitment to indies, PS3 owners can also look forward to a number of smaller indie titles as well.
