Wii and DS Get Bleached

Sega has announced via press release the North American releases of Bleach: Shattered Blade for Wii and Bleach: The Blade of Fate for Nintendo DS.

If you’re reading this, odds are Bleach needs no introduction, so let’s cut to the chase.

Bleach: Shattered Blade will utilize Wii Remote motion controls to simulate the feeling of slashing and thrusting a real sword as players select from 32 characters, each with their own weapons and special attacks, and battle through a game-exclusive storyline. Shattered Blade will also feature head-to-head multiplayer.

Bleach: The Blade of Fate is the first of two Bleach games released in Japan for the DS from reknowned dev studio Treasure (Ikaruga, Gunstar Heroes). Utilizing the dual screens to create towering fighting arenas, the game offers players 28 different characters and wireless multiplayer for up to four.

“Bleach offers both fans and newcomers alike an action-packed arcade experience that delivers fast-paced swordplay in the tradition of the animated series’ intense action sequences,” said Sega of America VP of Marketing Scott A. Steinberg.

“Bleach is an exciting and highly anticipated property that translates extremely well to the versatility of the Wii Remote and the DS’ portable gameplay, and SEGA is proud to be the first to bring the video game series to the North American audience.”

Both games are slated for a fall 2007 release.
