Week-Ending Game Endings – 10.23.09 – WWF WrestleMania for the NES

And here we are, at the end of the week, and another edition of Week-Ending Game Endings.

Since this week marks the release of WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010, I thought I would dig around to find the ending for the first WWE– or rather, WWF– game made. And according to Wikipedia, that would be none other than WWF WrestleMania for the Nintendo Entertainment System, developed by Rare Ltd. and published by Acclaim. Wow, how things have changed.

My apologies in advance for the shakey footage, this was the only video of the game’s ending I could find.

Ah, how far we’ve come.

I can’t say I’ve ever played the game, but I find it interesting that they are using the theme of the player’s character, “Macho Man” Randy Savage’s “Pomp and Circumstance.” If they did that for each match, I would think it would get rather old, and quickly. Why not play the opponent’s music?

And at the end, the big gold belt. Boy, how I miss that. John Cena’s “spinner” belt was an amusing sidestep back when he was Vanilla Ice on steroids, but that time has long passed, and it’s just something of an eyesore now.

And it doesn’t even spin!
