Top 10 WWE '13 dream matches
WWE SummerSlam has come and gone, and we got to witness some great matches in the massive wrestling event of the summer. We also got some duds (like Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H), but that's to be expected. SummerSlam weekend was full of meet-and-greets, wrestling, and WWE '13 plugs. The upcoming game's roster was revealed at the event, and there are a number of great wrestlers from both the current generation and the iconic Attitude Era. Here's a list of 10 dream matches pitting yesterday's stars against today's top talents. You don't have to agree with me on these matches, but if that's the case, I've got two words for ya: Suck it!
Randy Orton vs. The Rock
For a long time, people considered Randy Orton to be "the new Stone Cold." I suppose you could look at it that way considering his nickname is the Viper and the RKO kind of looks like a modified stunner, but I've always likened Orton to The Rock. Both guys are third-generation WWE Superstars and they were both the youngest world champions in WWE at one point. Back at Wrestlemania XX in 2004, The Rock 'n' Sock Connection (Rock, Mick Foley) took on Evolution (Orton, Batista, Ric Flair). It was a nice way of teasing Rock vs. Orton, but that singles match never happened. Who knows if it'll happen now that Rock is back in WWE in a part-time role, but if it doesn't, we can always create this match in WWE '13.
Kharma vs. Lita
Though Kharma's run in WWE was short-lived, her appearance in WWE '13 means gamers can take her through the Divas division and run rampant right to the top. Before Kharma became a force to be reckoned with in women's wrestling, we had fan favorites such as Lita adding validity to the division. That validity may be gone these days with WWE's current crop of Divas, but the cool thing about video games is that gamers can do whatever the hell they want. So why not put one of the most impressive women's wrestlers of the Attitude Era against a threatening female behemoth who could have very easily been a part of that legendary time in wrestling?
Santino vs. X-Pac
Ya know, because it would be kind of fun to have a wrestler who jokes around in the ring take on a wrestler who was just a plain old joke.
Brock Lesnar vs. Ken Shamrock
Despite the fact that Brock Lesnar's match against Triple H at SummerSlam was an utter bore, there was a time when the Next Big Thing was delivering some awesome bouts. And because Lesnar can't seem to let go of the whole MMA thing even when he's in a WWE ring (Jimmy John's sponsorships be damned!), why not have him take on a fellow WWE Superstar-turned-MMA fighter like Ken Shamrock? Sure, it would be within the confines of a WWE ring, but it would make for an interesting match.
The Miz vs. Shawn Michaels
While The Miz has yet to achieve the accolades and stardom that the Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels did, there's still a lot to be said about the guy who was a reality TV star and no one had any faith in once he started his WWE career. Over the years, Miz has defied the odds, and he proved the doubters wrong when he became the WWE Champion and held on to the title for several months. No, he's yet to reach the plateau that HBK did, but he's still one hell of a star, and he's stolen the show on multiple occasions. And if anyone knows anything about stealing the show, it's Michaels, so it goes without saying that having Miz take on HBK would not only be a showstopper, it would be a show stealer.
