The Saboteur Gets a Release Date

Even with the dismissal of BioShock 2 to 2010, this holiday is still looking exceptionally fantastic. Pandemic’s The Saboteur has been announced to release, worldwide, on December 8th, 2009. Coincidentally, the same day the US declared war against Japan during WWII.

The Saboteur is a World War II, third-person shooter set in Nazi occupied France. The presence of the Nazis leaves a trail of colorless life. Players work as Sean Devlin, an Irish race car driver, to push the Nazis out and bring some color back to Paris.

Among the usual gamut of self-proclaimed awesomeness, Pandemic says this one will put gamers in an intense story that lets them choose exactly how they want to work through missions. Yeah, we’ve head that before. Josh Resnick, President of Pandemic, spoke to this effect in a press release today…

“The Saboteur is an entirely new take on WWII action gaming. Instead of putting players in the role of a soldier, they’ll experience one man’s quest for vengeance through an incredible story and an epic range of explosive action. Every street of Paris is alive with options, every block is teeming with action…We’re extremely proud of The Saboteur. The art style, intense story, and grand acts of defiance against the Nazis will deliver the one-of-a-kind experience that Pandemic fans have been waiting for.” — Josh Resnick

I will say that this one leaked into my top 10 titles from E3. Its looks a style alone make it worth more attention than any other WWII game.
