Sony Announces 10 New Greatest Hits Games

For those of you that may have jumped on the PS3 bandwagon a little late and missed out on a number of the system’s earlier high quality games, Sony has just the gift for you. The company has officially added a total of ten new titles to their list of Greatest Hits.

The following titles are now officially part of Sony’s Greatest Hits library:

1. inFAMOUS
2. God of War Collection
3. Killzone 2
4. LittleBigPlanet Game of the Year
5. Resistance 2
6. Dead Space
7. Fight Night Round 4
8. Resident Evil 5
9. Soulcalibur IV
10. UFC 2009 Undisputed

Sony fans should be pleased, as this is quite a solid lineup of games. At 30 bucks a pop, there is really no reason for any PlayStation 3 owner to miss out on amazing exclusives like inFAMOUS and LittleBigPlanet. The announcement comes as a bit of a surprise though, as one would expect them to wait until E3 to incorporate this announcement into their press conference.

Though truthfully, the timing couldn’t be more perfect. Perhaps now, more gamers will be apt to purchase God of War III in light of Collection‘s price drop. Also, with the announcement of Dead Space 2, gamers will have more incentive to pick up and play the first one in order to prepare for the sequel. Sometimes, the best way to garner hype for a game is to drop the price of the preceding game in that franchise.

Sony has certainly been picking up a lot more steam since their PS3 redesign, and what better way to capitalize on that momentum than by cutting the price on a substantial portion of the system’s must-have titles?
