Rumor: GoldenEye Remake Confirmed?

It seems that yesterdays rumor may be earning an even stronger leg to stand on. Though, it should be noted that a rumor is a rumor until it isn’t a rumor any longer. That’s just common sense.

To play catch-up: yesterday saw word of a survey floating around courtesy of Activision. GoNintendo first grabbed the details from a patron and posted the info within. That survey was about a GoldenEye remake for the Wii. An updated storyline, a new Bond and some more stylish gameplay were described to be part of Activision’s planned update. Adding fuel to the fire were shots of console controller shells and possible boxart.

But it was only a survey. And it came from a single, unidentified tipper.

Today, a source from within Activion has given Eurogamer the word on this GoldenEye rumor. According to that source, there’s more to the title than what’s been leaked.

Eurogamer’s source told them that gamers will be seeing their coveted GoldenEye remake on the Wii. This, of course, was the info that leaked yesterday. But the source also confirmed a GoldenEye game for the DS. The source went on to reveal that development duties are being shared by Eurocom (a European developer) and n-Space (an American developer).

Another shell shot from the rumored survey.
Eurocom recently worked on Dead Space Extraction for the Wii and the PS2 version of Quantum of Solace. If track records are any indication, Eurocom will be leading on the Wii side of things. n-Space is the company responsible for the recent Call of Duty and Star Wars: Battlefront efforts on the DS. A natural fit for the DS version of GoldenEye, if ever there was one.

The source also indicated that Activision will, in fact, be showing this game off at E3. No need to take your shoes off, we’ll tell you, that’s basically a week and a half from today.

Rumor? Yes. The truth is coming soon.
