PS4 game releases for March 2015

March looks to be a huge month for PS4 owners

While February was still fairly quiet for the most part, the PlayStation 4 saw a number of blockbuster titles release, including The Order: 1886, the system’s first true AAA exclusive of 2015. While the game didn’t receive the best of reviews, it kicked off what looks to be a promising year for the PS4. And looking into March, things are only picking up with the release of another exclusive, Bloodborne. Not to mention all the other blockbusters due out this month…

Helldivers – March 3, 2015

Helldivers is, as our editor-in-chief described, a “difficult” top down, twin-stick shooter with a heavy emphasis on co-op, tactical gameplay. In it, you must work together to coordinate actions during chaotic moments; this also means avoiding friendly fire casualties. As for the plot, the game is set in a procedurally generated universe where you must fight three different enemy species to ensure the survival of fictional Super Earth. Look out for our full review on March 3rd. Side note, Helldivers is the first game to release as part of Sony’s Spring Fever 2015 sale. As such, it’ll have a launch week discount for PS Plus members.

OlliOlli 2: Welcome to Olliwood – March 3, 2015

Welcome to Olliwood is the side-scrolling skateboarder sequel to 2014’s acclaimed OlliOlli. In the game, you zoom through levels on a skateboard while attempting to pull of different tricks. New in the sequel are split and hidden routes, four-player local multiplayer, and new combos. It’ll also be cross-buy and cross-save compatible meaning you can swap between the two platforms with ease.

Also releasing on March 3rd: Shiftlings, White Night

Zombie Army Trilogy – March 6, 2015

Zombie Army Trilogy is a tactical shooter that includes a remastered version of the original Nazi Zombie Army and its sequel, both of which were released in 2013 as standalone downloadable content for Sniper Elite V2. It also includes a previously unreleased third installment in the series, a cooperative mode that will support eight playable characters, four of which are new female characters.

DmC: Definitive Edition – March 10, 2015

DMC Devil May Cry Definitive

Remember Ninja Theory’s reboot of Capcom’s longstanding series with the Dante remake that everyone hated? Well, now it’s coming to PS4 as the “Definitive Edition.” This means all previously released downloadable content is included (including Vergil’s Downfall campaign), as are new modes and additional gameplay features. It’ll also run at 1080p, 60 frames per second.

Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number – March 10, 2015

Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Wrong is a sequel, but technically takes place before and after the events of its 2012 predecessor; although, the majority of the focus is on what happens after. Like the original, Wrong Number features intense violence and bloodshed through a 2D top-down perspective. New features include: different difficulty modes and 13 playable characters (each with their own interpretations as the story unfolds). A level editor has also been announced, but won’t be added to the game until spring 2015, after the game’s release.

Battlefield Hardline – March 17, 2015

BF Hardline

After a delay from October 21, 2014 to March 17, 2015, Visceral Games is finally ready to unleash its take on Electronic Arts’ long-standing Battlefield series. Ditching Battlefield’s traditional military themes, Hardline shifts focus to the police “war on crime.” That’s not to say you won’t experience some grand moments and exciting gameplay. With Hardline, Visceral has emphasized three key pillars of gameplay: strategy, speed, and story. Click through the links to learn more of each.

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD – March 17, 2015

Big hair and lots of fancy outfits, does that just about sum up what Final Fantasy has become? Making its Western debut this month, this action role-playing game transports you to Orience, a dark world governed by crystals and torn apart by war.

Also releasing on March 17: Bladestorm: Nightmare, Jamestown+, and Woolfe: The Red Hood Diaries

Borderlands: The Handsome Collection – March 24, 2015

Borderlands is finally making its debut on current-gen consoles with the release of The Handsome Collection this month; although, it’s kind of cheating since it’s not a full-blown new game. Rather, the collection consists of ports of Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. Seeing as how The Pre-Sequel was initially released only on Xbox 360 and PS3, this gives fans who upgrade console generations before it released a chance to finally play it. Other features include: all previously released downloadable content, enhanced local multiplayer, and the ability to transfer save data from PS3/Vita to PS4.

Bloodborne (aka Demon’s Souls HD) – March 24, 2015

The PlayStation 4 exclusive Dark Souls mod we’ve all been waiting — well, at least fans of Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls anyway. Developed by FromSoftware and directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, that should just about sum up what Bloodborne is all about. It’s an action role-playing game that promises lots of gore and probably death. Need I say more?

Also releasing on March 24: Metal Slug 3, Slender: The Arrival

MLB 15 The Show – March 31, 2015

MLB 15

Baseball is finally back this month! As a Cubs fan with high hopes, I couldn’t be more excited! Though I suggest checking in with me in May to see how I’m doing because odds are we’ll be 15 games out of first place. Regardless, The Show is often regarded as the best baseball sim available, and it’s exclusive to PlayStation. So I guess you do the math.

Also releasing on March 31: Axiom Verge, Toukiden: Kiwami

Resident Evil: Revelations 2 Episodes 2-4 – March 3 / 10 / 17

Revelations 2 already caught us by surprise for being a damn good Resident Evil game. And while we haven't given the game a final score, since we're holding out for all four episodes to come out, we really liked what we played so far. Raid Mode alone makes the price of admission worth it, as it alone provides loads of hours leveling up various characters. And hey, it's getting online co-op soon, so that's awesome!

Like I said, a pretty big month for PlayStation 4. I hope you've got deep pockets. Which games do you plan on getting in March?
