PlayStation Looking for Game Tester in a New Way

Ever wanted to be a video game tester? Sony is going to give people a chance on the upcoming PlayStation Network reality TV show called “The Tester.” They are currently holding a casting call for contestants, but be warned, this is not for the weak of game:

A group of around a dozen people (final number to be determined) will be moved into a house near Sony’s PlayStation testing facilities in San Diego, where they will compete for the grand prize: a contract position in the Quality Assurance department for Sony Computer Entertainment America. Tests will range from networked titles such as first-person shooters to getting the highest score in a title, to getting as far as you can in a set time, and more.

Shut-ins should probably not apply; being a reality TV show, your best chances lie in having a healthy dose of charisma, being outgoing, and being able to formulate ideas. Oh, and you need to be at least 21 years of age and a U.S. resident. All of the terms and conditions can be found here.

“The elimination competitions throughout the series will not only test the contestants’ video game knowledge, but they will also challenge the gamers’ memory, stamina, dexterity, and overall mental prowess,” says the promotional blurb. “Contestants must have the whole package to take home the coveted prize in this new original series.”

And even if you don’t win? Hey, someone at Sony might see something they like and get ahold of you down the line. It happens in these types of events.

If you’d like to try your hand at becoming a potential contestant on The Tester, send your name, age, contact information, the games in which you excel, two current pictures, and why this is your dream job to thetester at iconiccasting-dot-com.

Or, you can be even more thorough and fill out the fields in the form found at the website Sony has posted for the show’s casting call. This method, however, requires an audition video in place of one of the photos.

And if you’re reading this and you get in, let us know and maybe I can coerce Ken into sending you one of our coveted Kombo t-shirts as a way of congratulating you (I haven’t received the official thumbs-up on that yet, but I can still try!).
