Miguel Cabrera deserves a shot at the MLB 13 The Show cover

It's almost that time where baseball fans can begin voting on the cover athlete for the best-selling baseball game on the market (and maybe the only one this year), MLB 13 The Show. This year, fans will have the option to vote for one of four athletes to grace the cover of Sony's upcoming baseball game.

Based on the voting page, it looks like four athletes will be eligible. Three of them — Andrew McCutchen, Bryce Harper, and CC Sabathia — have already been revealed. Andrew McCutchen was the latest of the group to be announced, but the fourth still remains a mystery. We don't know when Sony will unveil the fourth contender, but it better be Miguel Cabrera.

Last season, Miguel Cabrera led the AL with 44 home runs, 139 RBIs, and .330 batting average, earning the Triple Crown. That's no easy feat, considering the last player to do so was Carl Yastrzemski in 1967. On top of that, Cabrera was named the AL's Most Valuable Player, beating out rookie sensation Mike Trout.

Ultimately, the Detroit Tigers failed, as a team, in their goal of winning the World Series. That's not something that should affect Cabrera in eligibility, however. With stats and achievements like that, how could Sony possibly pass him up?

Who would you like to see as the fourth player eligible for the cover of MLB 13 The Show?
