Media: Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games – Opening Ceremony, Festival Mode, and Adventure To

Earlier this week, a tiny error was made as I unfortunately neglected to include Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games in the Now Shipping post. That error has since been corrected, and in time to celebrate the game’s release with the trailer featuring the games’ opening ceremony:

Now, let the games begin!

On the Wii, we get a look at the new Festival Mode, which features events and boss battles taking place throughout the Olympic competition:

…am I the only one a little weirded out whenever Dry Bowser shows up? I mean, after all, he’s Bowser… when he’s dead. Dry Bones isn’t quite as creepy, since there are tons of Troopas running around, but there’s only one Bowser, and he seems to have no qualms showing up alongside his spectral alter-ego.

It’s cool to see E-123 Omega, King Boo, Bullet Bill, and Eggman Nega show up, though, but I wish they’d found some way to include Rosalina as well. Maybe next time…

Over on the DS is the new and appealing Adventure Mode, where you gather new equipment and form a team of top-caliber Olympic athletes to put a stop to Bowser and Eggman’s plans to… er, capture the Snow Spirits and ruin the Winter Games? Well, odd (but Mario-ish) premise aside, word is that it’s actually rather fun. Check it out:

Looks like a fun time, I can’t wait to do the review. But I am a little disappointed in one thing: they didn’t release any of the cool costumed character trailers of Sonic and Mario sabotaging one-another that they did for the last game. What’s up with that?
