Kane and Lynch 2 Available on OnLive, Comes with Free Game

Today is launch day for Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days, and as if you didn’t have enough choices regarding which platform to play the game on, OnLive has jumped into the mix to make your decision a bit tougher. The cloud-based gaming service has announced that not on is Kane and Lynch 2 available now, but anyone who purchases the title immediately also gets a second full game absolutely free. Not a bad offer at all now is it?

According to the official announcement from OnLive, those who buy the game between now and Aug 22 will receive a voucher good for a full playpass which can be redeemed for ANY game on the service. While that list isn’t all that extensive, there are still some heavy hitters like Batman: Arkham Asylum and Assassin’s Creed 2 that could be yours for the low, low price of $0.

All this is a pretty major get for OnLive, and one of the first indications that the service might be serious and here to stay. OnLive needs to be able to offer games for sale on the same date as competitors like retail outlets and Steam, and throwing in a free game will probably go a long way in convincing skeptics that they should give the company a fair shake.

As for the game itself, it’s too early to tell if Kane and Lynch 2 learned from the mistakes of its predecessor and delivered a genuinely entertaining experience. Reviews should be rolling in throughout the day, so we’ll be keeping a curious eye out to see if the franchise that got Jeff Gerstmann fired has seen any significant improvement. And if it has, well we might just pick up a copy from OnLive, free games are a powerful incentive after all.
