THQ has announced recently that they have started shipping their multiplatform title, The Incredibles: Rise of the Underminer for the Playstation 2, Xbox, GameCube, Game Boy Advance, and Nintendo DS gaming systems.
The follow up to the hit game released last year, Rise of the Underminer once again allows fans of the feature film to control Mr. Incredible and Frozone as they seek out the evil Underminer.
“THQ is extremely excited to bring fans of The Incredibles a new adventure that picks up where the film and the first installment of the game ended,” said Jack Sorensen, Executive Vice President of Worldwide Studios, THQ. “Game developer Heavy Iron’s collaboration with the team at Pixar illustrates the commitment our companies have to delivering an experience that is true to The Incredibles world.”
In the upcoming title, gamers must ensure that the Underminer’s plan to pollute the cities of the world. The Incredibles is set to include a new cooperative multiplayer mode for fans of the series to enjoy. The mode will allow players to switch control of the game’s characters at their will as they compete for points to upgrade special moves and powers.
“The first game based on The Incredibles truly complemented the high action vision Director Brad Bird had for the film,” said Pixar Animation Studios John Walker, producer of The Incredibles. “The Incredibles: Rise of the Underminer continues where the film left off, challenging gamers to explore a whole new dimension of The Incredibles world.”
Rise of the Underminer is being developed by Iron Studios for the console versions, with Helixe Studios handling the handheld titles.
“The Incredibles has experienced enormous success and has become not only a great film property, but a powerful video game franchise with opportunities to develop new characters and environments within The Incredibles universe,” said Graham Hopper, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Buena Vista Games, Inc. (BVG).
The Incredibles: Rise of the Underminer has been rated “E” for everyone by the ESRB and will retail at $39.99 for the console versions with the portable iterations selling for $29.99. Stick with the Advanced Media Network as we bring you our full review on each of these games in the coming days.
