Here’s everything we know about Clash of Clans upcoming update

All last week, Supercell Games teased the next major update for Clash of Clans — presumably coming some time this week. And while the developer was kind enough to share with us some sneak peeks of what’s coming, it’s likely we’ll have to wait until the update rolls out before we got the “official” change-log. For now though, we have an entire week’s worth of sneak peeks to go off of. Here’s what we know so far about the new update, based on what Supercell has told us.

New Lava Hound troop

Lava Hound

Easily the biggest announcement made so far, the Lava Hound is a new unit designed to soak up damage from anti-air defense buildings. While it deals damage, it’s mainly used as a distraction. As we saw from early gameplay demos, you’ll want to first send in the Lava Hound to distract the air defenses, then send in the heavy damage troops, like Dragons and Balloons.

Level 6 Dark Barracks

Building the new Lava Hound requires a level 9 Town Hall, but I also believe a level 6 Dark Barracks is needed. Unfortunately, we don’t know how much it’ll cost to upgrade to this level.

Level 13 Archer Towers

To help combat the new Lava Hound air unit, the update will introduce a level 13 Archer Tower.

Level 7 Barbarians and Archers & reduced Valkyrie training time

Clash of Clans

Pretty straight forward with this one, another level for your Barbarians and Archers. Nothing too exciting.

Also announced on the same day, Valkyrie training time will be “significantly” reduced.

Walls! Walls! Walls!

Soon you’ll have the ability to upgrade an entire row of walls in just one go. Aside from the new Lava Hound, I’d say this is the second-best new feature coming in the update, as you’ll no longer be required to select each individual part of a wall and upgrade it separately. It makes you wonder why this feature wasn’t implemented sooner.

In addition to simplifying the wall upgrading process, the update will also give you the option of upgrading level 6-plus walls with Elixir instead of Gold. Of course, you can still opt to upgrade using gold — it’s completely up to you.

1 Gem Resource boosting

You might have already noticed, but resource boosting has been reduced to just one gem while we await the arrival of the new update. From now until whenever the update hits you can boost your resource collectors for 24 hours for just one gem.

More to come?

So far that’s all Supercell has let on in terms of what’s new in the update, but there’s always the possibility that there’s another big secret. We’ll find out whenever the update hits. Unfortunately, Supercell hasn’t really told us when that will be. I’m just assuming some time next week.
