Darksiders II Video Walkthrough | Boss Guide: How to beat The Wailing Host

Death is out to clear his brother's name and restore order to the realm by resurrecting humanity. To do this, he'll have to smash his way through legions of boss battles, uncover a variety of secrets, and try his best to keep his skull mask from getting dirty. Vito Gesualdi helps you get it done in this video walkthrough!

Boss Guide: How to beat The Wailing Host

The boss of the City of the Dead is The Wailing Host, and he is one tough mother! Luckily he's got some very predictable patterns to dodge.

  • If his head moves upwards, he's coming in for the double fisted pound. Roll backwards to escape it.
  • If his hands both go outwards, he's planning to slam them together. Stay close to his head (or roll backwards) to avoid.
  • If his right hand winds back, he's going to do his double swipe attack. Roll backwards to avoid the first swipe, then immediately roll forwards to avoid the second.

After beating him around the head for awhile, The Wailing Host will retreat into the ground, giving you some skeleton jerks to fight. Take them down, then return to the fight, using your Reaper Swing ability or other wrath abilities. When he goes down the second and third time, make sure to jam on the action button to take him down! Keep it up and you'll have conquered the City of the Dead!
