Capcom: Street Fighter III HD Remix “Somewhat Unlikely”

So, after a prolonged period of development, we have a modern update of Super Street Fighter II Turbo, now with “HD Remix” added to the end for an even longer name. The question now presented before Capcom is “will you make an HD version of Street Fighter III?”

That is what one user in Capcom’s “Ask Capcom” forums laid before the company, and to which VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development Christian Svensson soon answered.

“An HD Remix on SF3 would be a challenge in and of itself given the number of frames of animation and effects that would have to be redone, especially in light of what we learned on SSF2THDR,” Svensson reveals. “As such, the very nature of the project you’re suggesting is somewhat unlikely.”

In addition, the original query also desired to know, as they hate downloading games, whether or not such a game would be available at retail.

Svensson said, “if it were to happen, I would suspect a retail release would also be unlikely given our current strategy for Remixes.”

Some of the other replies to the question suggest that Street Fighter III’s graphics are already of a high enough quality, and that a filter such as that placed on Marvel vs. Capcom 2 would be more practical and ideal instead. What do you think?
