Activision Removes Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 DLC, Says It Was a “Limited Time Offer”

A few months ago, we learned of new downloadable content for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 that would allow players access to the powers of Carnage, Psylocke, and Cable. The DLC arrived on November 5th, but then something strange happened: last week, it disappeared from the PlayStation Network Store.

Joystiq dug into the matter, and thanks to an Activision representative, made a most unusual discovery: “The Marvel: Ultimate Alliance Downloadable Content was a limited time offer, expiring on December 31, 2009.”

Naturally, this move has made numerous people quite upset, some noting that there was no mention of this DLC being a “limited time” offering. I can imagine that those who might have asked for/received the game for Christmas might even be more upset, given their limited window to take advantage.

As an aside, Joystiq makes no mention of the DLC being removed from Xbox LIVE, but it seems to no longer be available there, either.
