Map #12 Standoff
Standoff is a snipers paradise. If you don’t get hit in the face from a mile away on this map you’re doing something right. Standoff features a lot of building that are just perfect for campers and snipers alike. If you run around this map, you’re going to have a bad time.
There are three main buildings in this map (pictured above). The first one is at the top middle of the map. This is the most effective building to be in because of the range you get from the second floor. You can see a lot of the enemies on the ground and even the ones in the opposite buildings that are ahead. Looking from left to right also gives you a huge advantage just by the amount of real estate you can shoot at. There’s also only two ways that enemies can get to you, one from behind and one from the left side. If you put a claymore at one and a shock charge at the other, you’ll be all set.
The next important building is on the bottom left, which is in sight of the one I was just talking about. These two building square off a lot with long range assault rifles and sniper rifle players constantly trying to kill each other from here. This building has more weaknesses, as when sneaking around you’re completely open to a shot and the ladder behind you doesn’t make you feel any safer. The other concern is the inside of the building you’re standing on as enemies can come up and kill you through a window, or multiple windows. You’re also in range from the building mentioned earlier and the building about to be mentioned (in the middle of the map) so you have to be really careful here.
The building in the middle of the map has a nice open view to find enemies on the ground. You can also kill enemies easily in the bottom left building since you have cover and they don’t. It’s possible, but hard, to get clean shots on the top building so focus more on protecting your back and firing at the lower left building. You also have a great view of the small building on the left in the middle, as enemies run out by that car (the little rectangle lower than the building). Make sure you keep an eye on both areas to stay alive.
Weapon Recommendation
Don’t find yourself without a sniper rifle for this level. Equip your favorite one and go to work on the opposition. Make sure you bring a Claymore or Bouncing Betty along with a Shock Charge so you can tell if someone is getting close to you. Make sure you equip a sidearm if you’re bringing a sniper rifle. The Five – Seven is my personal favorite.

Overall Thoughts
Standoff is a fun map if you enjoy sniping. If you don’t this is not a map for you (or me). Work on your aim on this map since there will be enemies far away that will give you good target practice. If you don’t like it, don’t vote for it.
