Call of Duty Black Ops 2 Map Strategies – Cargo

Default-user

Posted by: Alex Rhoades

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is finally here. As most of you will soon find out, jumping straight into multiplayer without any idea of the maps, weapons and scorestreaks will be difficult. Luckily for you, I’ve been playing the game almost exclusively with countless trial and error to bring you my thoughts and weapon choices for each map. You see, every map is vastly different from one another and you have five different classes to make, so you better make good use of them. I will be going in alphabetical order for the on-disk maps while DLC maps (such as Nuketown 2025) will be last. When the first pack of DLC comes out, I will add to this ever-expanding list.

Cargo

Map #2 Cargo

The second map that we get to discuss is Cargo, or as I call it, snipe behind boxes. This map is overrun with sniper fire, making it easily the most frustrating map for more conventional players.

I get it, sniping people from across the map while they can barely see you is fun. It makes your k/d better and you have a better shot to win the game because of it. But Cargo is where sniping looks unbalanced, as it’s basically the only thing being done. There are points in the map where it could easily be a close quarters type fight, but the map isn’t played like that at all.

As an assault rifle player, I find it disappointing that the map is overrun with one weapon class, mainly because I don’t prefer sniping. In Call of Duty, you have to adapt, and the way to play this map is standing behind cargo boxes (hence the name of the map) and snipe to your hearts content. If you're going to run around this map, stay away from the circle in the middle, that's sniper alley.

Weapon Recommendation

Sniper rifle, sniper rifle, and more sniper rifles. It’s adapt or die on Cargo and if you cant hit an enemy from long range, you’re already dead. You can’t go wrong with any of the available sniper rifles since they all seem to kill the opponent in one shot. I particularly like the DSR 50, since I cant recall a time where I hit someone above the waist and didn’t kill them. It seems powerful and you can unlock it early making it my go-to sniper rifle.

Gameplay Cargo

If you absolutely hate sniping, you can try using any number of shotguns available in the game. This way when you find a guy camping and sniping, you can one-shot them in the back. There are also a lot of corridors that result in close quarter fights (when people are actually moving around the map) in which a shotgun would be helpful.

Pick 10

For Pick 10, you have the ability to choose exactly how your class is played. You can switch out your own weapons instead of using the ones I recommend as it’s mostly the class that matters. My ideal Pick 10 for Cargo is as followed

Primary – DSR 50 (Sniper Rifle)

------------Attachments – Ballistics CPU (reduces weapon sway)

Secondary – Tac-45 (Pistol)

Perk 1 – Blind Eye

Perk 2 – Cold Blooded

Perk 3 – Engineer, Dead Silence

Lethal – Grenade (until you unlock bouncing betty or claymore)

Tactical – Shock Charge

Wildcard – Perk 3 Greed

Cargo Snipe

Scorestreaks

The best scorestreaks for Cargo include:

UAV – Show where those pesky snipers are

Counter UAV – Don’t let anyone see you while you sneak around the map

Dragonfire – Fly overhead of the snipers picking them off one by one

Sentry Gun – Put this in a crowded corridor and watch your kills rack up

Overall Thoughts

Cargo is my least favorite map in the game. It’s not that it isn’t up to par; it’s how people play the game. What could have been a close quarters combat has been turned into “who has the best sniping spot” which is unfortunate. Make sure you equip your sniper rifle or you can be in some serious trouble in Cargo.
