Teddie

Teddie is a bear mascot that comes from within the TV. He was a playable character and source of comic relief in Persona 4. He also has a human form.

The character swipes foes with his claws, and his Persona is Kintoki-Douji, a red boiler with a tomahawk missile in its arms.

Yosuke Hanamura

Another classmate of the protagonist, Yosuke is the son of the owner of Junes, a supermarket in Inaba, and made his debut in Persona 4.

He fights with kunai, a Japanese knife prime for stabbing and throwing, and his Persona is Jiraiya, based on a shapeshifting ninja from Japanese folklore.

And finally …

Naoto Shirogane

Naoto is part of the fifth generation of the Shirogane family, a famous line of detectives. She's also a second-year high school student known as the "Detective Prince," and met the protagonist when she visited Inaba to investigate the serial murders a year prior.

An androgynous character, Naoto joined the series with Persona 4. She brandishes a pistol, and her Persona is Sukuna-Hikona, named after the Japanese deity of medicine.

Kanji Tatsumi

A delinquent with a good heart (and a knack for knitting), Kanji smacks his opponents around with a folding chair. He was a playable character in Persona 4.

His Persona, Take-Mikazuchi, is a god of thunder and sword in Japanese mythology.

Introducing Teddie and Yosuke …

Chie Satonaka

Chie is the protagonist’s athletic classmate from Persona 4. She’s a tomboy who loves kung fu movies, and she’s acquired skills in martial arts, excelling in kick-based moves.

Her Persona is Tomoe, a female samurai whose outfit resembles Bruce Lee’s in the 1972 film The Game of Death. Coincidence?

Yukiko Amagi

Yukiko is a fellow classmate of the protagonist in Persona 4 and best friends with Chie. She’s helped out with the family business at the Amagi Inn since she was a girl, learning proper etiquette and manners.

She prefers to use a fan in combat, and her Persona is Konohana Sakuya, cherry blossom princess and daughter of the mountain god Ohoyamatsumi.

Yukiko also appears in Persona 3 Portable.

Now say hello to Naoto and Kanji …

Labrys

Labrys is making her in-game debut in Persona 4 Arena. The Investigation Team meets her as they delve into the crisis. Wearing a Yasogami High uniform and claiming to be the student council president in a setting similar to that of the actual school, Labrys is a mystery.

She wields an ax, and her Persona is Ariadne, after the daughter of King Minos of Crete who helped Theseus best the labyrinth and its minotaur.

Shadow Labrys

Shadow Labrys is a repressed part of Labrys that has separated from her and gone berserk. Her Persona is Asterius, a monster of Greek origin.

Get ready for Chie and Yukiko …

Aigis

A returning cast member from Persona 3, Aigis is an android with compassion, an anti-shadow weapon created by the Kirijo Group.

Like other characters, her appearance has changed slightly for Persona 4 Arena. Instead of her traditional red ribbon, worn around her neck, she now dons a long red tie and is equipped with new advanced weaponry. Other small alterations have been made to her regular costume.

She relies on heavy firearms for combat, and her Persona is Athena, modeled after the Greek goddess of wisdom.

Elizabeth

Elizabeth (the “lethal elevator attendant”) is a resident of the Velvet Room and assistant to Igor, its proprietor, who has remained in the series since its inception in 1996. Elizabeth appears in Persona 4 Arena’s TV world on her own accord, pursuing a personal quest.

Her main weapon is a book, and her Persona is Thanatos, who symbolizes death and mortality.

She’s a character in Persona 3 and is mentioned in 4.

Labrys and Shadow Labrys are up next …

A rumor is spreading. Look into a turned-off TV on a rainy night, and you’ll tune in to the P-1 Grand Prix, a mysterious program that pits high school students against one another in brutal combat. As people start disappearing one by one, and not even the announcer, Teddie, can be contacted, the Investigation Team hops on the case.

Below is an introduction to the characters you’ll meet in Persona 4 Arena.

Akihiko Sanada

A member of the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad (S.E.E.S.) with Mitsuru in Persona 3, Akihiko went on to college and trained around the world. Now he's back in Japan, sporting a savage new look. His Persona is called Caesar (based on the actual person), the same as his Ultimate Persona in P3.

Mitsuru Kirijo

Another Shadow-hunting member of S.E.E.S., Mitsuru is also the daughter of the founding family of the multinational Kirijo Group. She's a college student who doubles as a leader, and her confident and mature attitude makes her a natural fit for the role. She uses a rapier, and her Persona is Artemisia, who, like Caesar, is based on a historical figure rather than a mythological one.

She appears in Persona 3.
