E3: Fatal Frame II comes to Xbox

You think Tecmo likes the Xbox just a tad? It’s hard to argue against the assertion, giving Ninja Gaiden and the forthcoming Dead or Alive Ultimate (along with the other titles from Tecmo on the Xbox). However, following their previous announcement of GunGriffon, Tecmo has announced yet another title coming to Xbox in 2004; a title that was previously a PS2 exclusive.

Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly, Tecmo’s latest survival horror game, will be released on Xbox in time for Halloween 2004. In case you hadn’t heard, Crimson Butterfly puts you in the role of Mio Amakura, a young girl with a strong sixth sense. Mio and her twin sister become trapped in an abandoned village where they are forced to survive amongst evil spirits with the aid of their camera (which serves as your primary weapon).

The new version will boast numerous new features over its PS2 counterpart, including new gameplay modes, new unlockable costumes, additional locations, a tougher final boss, improved graphics, and 5.1 surround sound. In addition to the new locations throughout the village that will be found in the Xbox version, the town will also be inhabited by several new evil spirits. New gameplay modes will include a survival mode in which you take on several spirits in succession, as well as a first person mode in which to play the main game.

At this rate, we’ll have 64,000 additional Tecmo games to announce by the end of E3. Until then, check out our media for Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly.
