XBL Activity: Stacking, Sales, and Not Many Playing Dead Space 2

Major Nelson has released his Xbox Live activity stats for this week (week of February 7) - while a lot of it is the status quo (Call of Duty and Halo at the top), there are a few surprises to be had. As you can see in the top 20 list below, Dead Space 2 barely made its way into the list, even with word from NPD that the game was the #3 selling game in January. Perhaps multiplayer, despite being pretty fun, hasn't caught on the way Visceral may have hoped. Speaking of unexpectedly good multiplayer, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood has been hanging in, but dropping steadily since it's release late last year, dipping 8 spots over two months. Still, for the kind of game it is, it's good to see there's a thriving community there.

In Xbox Live Arcade stats, Stacking pulled in a second place finish for the week. It probably would have topped the charts if not for the deal of the week, which did a lot of favors for Serious Sam and old standby Geometry Wars 2.

In the world of Xbox Indies, Voice Changer 360 topped the list, and the hilarious bird-murdering simulation, Bird Assassin, took second place. As usual, the indie chart remains an odd mix of awful apps from the cesspools of developer's minds, and a smattering of truly worthwhile titles.

Keep in mind that the stats for these charts are based on unique users, and that the Arcade and Indie charts are based on full versions purchased.

Got a favorite game you wish was higher in the charts? Sound off in the comments below and let us know. Honestly, I'd like to see Dead Space 2 a bit higher, and me and about 300 others really wish you were all still playing Blur.

Joe Donato Video games became an amazing, artful, interactive story-driven medium for me right around when I played Panzer Dragoon Saga on Sega Saturn. Ever since then, I've wanted to be a part of this industry. Somewhere along the line I, possibly foolishly, decided I'd rather write about them than actually make them. So here I am.
