Ubisoft Excited about Making Rayman Origins a "Big Event"
I've never played a lot of Rayman. Though I enjoyed a few play sessions with the first game, I never played subsequent entries. Since then, my only enjoyment with the Rayman brand has come from Rayman Raving Rabbids for the Wii. That's why hearing that Rayman Origins will take the limbless hero back to his roots brings me sheer joy.
I'm not the only one who's excited about the upcoming 2D side-scroller. In an interview with MCV, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot discussed the company's 25-year run, the Assassin's Creed series, and the future of Rayman. Longtime fans of the platforming franchise will be glad to know that in addition to Rayman 3D, which recently launched, the 2D Rayman Origins will provide more of the old school style that the series was known for in its early days.
Guillemot stated that Rayman Origins would be something to watch out for, and he mentioned that the original creator is returning to design the upcoming title. "There will be a new game, Rayman Origins, by Michel Ancel," confirmed Guillemot. "It will be HD in 2D and it will be a big event for the whole industry."
This is exciting news, no doubt, and something both Rayman fans and platformer loyalists can definitely look forward to. In addition to quirky characters and classic platforming, Rayman Origins will feature a colorful new art style that bursts with charm. Though there's currently no word on the game's release date, fans can expect the title to land on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network.
