Assassin's Creed III doesn't hit store shelves till October, but the game is already picking up major hype. Ezio's story is finished, the game's setting has changed, and the British are coming, but we still do not know who's handling the game's online component...until now.

In a press release today, Ubisoft revealed that Ubisoft Annecy is in complete control over the mutliplayer. For those unfamilar with work of Annecy, the team has developed the multiplayer for both Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, while assissting in the development of Assassin's Creed: Revelation's online play.

Annecy's Tim Browne has been named the project's Lead Designer. Browne had previously been employed at Codemasters, serving as a designer on Operation Flashpoint: Red River and Dragon Rising. The designer seemed extremely excited to be working on this massive project that is still somewhat of a secret.

We're not quite sure what Assassin's Creed III's multiplayer will entail, but we're excited nonetheless. Annecy has dove deep into the franchise already, so they're working with familiar territory.
