Ubisoft’s Avatar game won’t be release before 2020

Will it see another delay to get put on the PS5?

Earlier this year, Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment announced that they had partnered to release an open-world Avatar video game for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. At the time, the game hadn't been given a solid release date, however, it was expected the game would release alongside Avatar 2 (film) in December 2018.

With Avatar 2 being delayed and likely seeing a 2020 release (production has just started), the new Avatar game won't be releasing anytime soon. According to Ubisoft, the Avatar game "won't be released before FY21" (fiscal year 2021). Ubisoft's fiscal year ends on April 1, so that means we won't be seeing the game before April 1, 2020.

"Avatar is one of the biggest and most powerful entertainment brands. Our first game was profitable and we have great plans for the new one, with a very strong studio and engine. The movie will be released end of 2020, so our game won’t be released before FY21," a representative for Ubisoft told IGN.

The real question is, what will release first – Kingdom Hearts 3 or the Avatar game?
