Ubisoft ‘extremely happy’ with Xbox One price cut

Ubisoft has no problems with the newly announced Kinect-less Xbox One, which will retail for $399. And why would they? The new price, which is $100 less than what the Xbox One with Kinect originally sold for at launch, hopefully means more next-gen systems in the hands of consumers.

"We are extremely happy with that; we think it's a great move from Microsoft," Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said today during the post-earnings financial call. Guillemot went on to say that the Xbox One price cut also means that both next-gen systems — the Xbox One and PS4 — are available at an "affordable price."

"We expect the next-gen to grow faster thanks to that," Guillemot said. "Customers will have the possibility to buy either with or without [Kinect] and that will be a very positive thing for the industry."

As for speculation that Xbox One could see a performance boost as a result of making the Kinect optional, Guillemot said "I don't have the answer."
