Treyarch brings female protagonist to Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 campaign

Dogs stopped being cool after the GoDaddy advertisement

We have met the first four Specialists for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3's multiplayer. We know the game is available for pre-order, and we know the PC specs; but, did you know about the game will allow you to choose between playing a male or female protagonist for the campaign mode?

That's right, in addition to all of the other new features and changes coming in Black Ops 3, Treyarch will give players the option to play as either male or female in the game's campaign.

"You can be male, and you can be female. And, by the way, that means you’ve got a full female track for the whole thing," said executive producer Jason Blundell.

The developers went ahead and did everything twice in Black Ops 3. They didn't just copy a man's animations onto a female's frame, they reprogrammed and captured everything for the female protagonist. Lamia mentioned "gender neutrality" in the interview, but didn't go into much detail other than likening Black Ops 3's take on a female lead to Sigourney Weaver's in Alien.

"The emotions and dynamics between characters is kind of gender neutral," added Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia.

If female's get to go to war they might as well be in a game about war.
